A stylish four-star hotel in a landmark 19th century building in the heart of Cognac in the Charente
The François Premier hotel – relax in four-star luxury in the heart of Cognac
Outside the majestic facade is pure Napoleon III, but inside the François Premier is a superb hotel and spa with all the modern comforts you would expect from a four-star establishment.
Closed since 2005, the hotel re-opened in May 2012 after a major refurbishment that has brought it up-to-date in style as well as in terms of health and safety, and access for the disabled.
A Cognac landmark, the 19th building is situated in the heart of the town making it the perfect place from which to visit the area’s many attractions - Cognac’s historic old town, a tour of a renowned cognac producer, a boat trip on the River Charente, the beaches of the Atlantic coast and golf at the picturesque 18-hole Cognac golf club to name just a few.
Your memorable stay begins as soon as you step through the heavy green doors past the magnificent stone staircase dating back to 1861, and into the lobby. Here, the hotel’s chic modern style takes over, the bright and airy space decorated with the best of contemporary design.
The colour palette used throughout the hotel is inspired by those of the surrounding countryside that’s famous for producing cognac. In the 21 luxurious bedrooms and four suites relax amongst warm woods, rich creams and deep reds.
All the rooms, with ensuite bathrooms, are air-conditioned and feature at least king-size beds, as well as 80cm flat-screen LCD televisions, a minibar and safe. Wi-fi is in every room and is free, and there is also an ipad connection.
